Terms and Conditions of Use for Asia Pacific University (“APU”) Online Payment Platform

Effective Date: 12th September 2024

Please read these Terms and Conditions carefully before using APU's Online Payment Platform ("the Platform"). By accessing or using the Platform, you agree to comply with and be bound by the following terms and conditions.

1. Introduction

These Terms and Conditions govern the use of the Platform for making payments to APU. By using the Platform, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and Conditions, as well as any future modifications.

 

2. Eligibility

You must meet all conditions below to be eligible to use the payment platform:

  • You are a student of Asia Pacific University of Technology and Innovation (APU), whether local or international, and are currently enrolled in an APU programme.
  • You hold a valid Malaysian local bank account, which is required to process payments through the Platform. Payments from non-Malaysian bank accounts will not be accepted.
  • You are using the Platform for lawful purposes and are providing accurate, current, and complete information about yourself and your payment.

 

 3. Payment Terms

3.1. Payment Methods

Only payments via On-line Transfer will be accepted, through Billplz. Billplz is a payment gateway which accepts payments via FPX online banking

3.2. Currency

All payments must be made via FPX online banking in Ringgit Malaysia (RM).

3.3. Payment Authorisation

By making a payment, you authorise APU to debit the amount from your bank account. You also agree that:

  • You are authorised to use the payment method you provided.
  • All information provided for payment purposes is accurate and complete. 

3.4. Payment Notification

Upon making a payment, you will receive two notifications:

  1. A confirmation from Billplz, the Payment Gateway.
  2. A confirmation from APU, acknowledging successful processing of your payment.

Additionally, your payment record in the APSpace will be updated within 6 hours of the successful transaction.

If you do not receive any confirmation email within 6 hours, please contact us at bursaryadmin@apu.edu.my.

 

4. Security and Data Protection

We take your privacy and data security seriously. By using this Platform, you agree to the collection, use, and storage of your personal information as described in our Privacy Policy.

The following terms apply:

4.1. Data Collection and Use

We collect personal information necessary to process your payment, including but not limited to your name, contact details, and payment information. This data will be used exclusively for processing transactions and ensuring compliance with regulatory obligations.

4.2. Data Security

We employ industry-standard security measures, to protect the personal information that you provide when using the Platform. These measures include:

  • Encryption of payment data during transmission.
  • Secure storage of data on our servers.
  • System updates to ensure reliability of the system that we use.

4.3. Confidentiality of Personal Information

Your personal information will be treated as confidential and will not be disclosed to third parties except:

  • To service providers facilitating the payment process (e.g., payment gateway vendor).
  • When required by law or to comply with legal obligations.
  • With your express consent.

We will not sell, rent, or share your personal information for marketing or other purposes without your consent.

4.4. Data Retention

We will retain your personal information only for as long as necessary to complete the payment process, fulfil any legal or regulatory requirements, or resolve any disputes. After this period, your data will be securely deleted.

 

 5. Liability

5.1. Accuracy of Information

While we strive to ensure that all information on our site is accurate, we reserve the right to update or modify any details at any time without prior notice.

5.2. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, APU shall not be held liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the online payment service.

 

6. Changes to Terms and Conditions

We reserve the right to amend these terms and conditions at any time. Changes will take effect immediately upon posting on this website. Your continued use of the online payment service constitutes your acceptance of the revised terms. You are advised to regularly check our website for updates.

 

7. Governing Law

These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of Malaysia. Any disputes arising from the use of this online payment service will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of Malaysia.
